At WIRL Records is a compilation that features songs by legendary reggae producer Lee “Scratch” Perry from his stint at West Indies Records Limited in the late ’60s to early ’70s. While this music is lesser known than his Studio One material, songs like “People Funny Boy” ended up being a huge hit for Perry. Other highlights include his work with Clancy Eccles on “You Crummy,” his team-up with fellow producer Bunny Lee on “Labrish,” and a laid-back cover of Chris Kenner’s R&B song “Something You Got.” ~ Jason Lymangrover
